Personal Mentorship

What an awesome opportunity to serve and shape our SUM West Monroe students! Our desire is to provide an enriching environment which you can call home while growing intellectually, spiritually, and socially.

Our Philosophy

Servant Of All (SOA): This program forms the backbone of the SUM educational philosophy. Upon completion of the degree program, students will have engaged in excellent academic instruction, powerful prayer times, enriching Bible studies, fasting, physical fitness and coaching meetings. They will also have completed hands-on ministry which will prepare them for a life-time of service to humanity and preparation for life-long learning.

Mission Statement

The Student Life Department seeks to provide a total living and learning community environment for students called to a life of urban ministry/service through spiritual maturation, intentional relationship building, discipleship and Christian service. The Student Life Department provides services and affords opportunities to enhance campus life. Departmental staff strives to create a comfortable living and learning community by providing personnel, resources, programs, services, and facilities that promote and support educational achievement, social development and civility through local and global cultural awareness and understanding. Through the development of this community, individual growth will occur which will encourage students to invest in their future communities.

Spiritual formation takes place through:

  • Dynamic chapel services
  • A unified community within the dorms
  • Personal coaching with administration, faculty and alumni
  • Student-lead outreaches and ministry projects
